Hello Rock River League Alumni! It’s time to be heard from again. Well, we made it through December and January with somewhat mild weather but February hit us hard. It won’t be long for spring tourneys to get under way and the Rock River League will get going the end of April. Which means it’s time for the Rock River League Old-timers Annual Meeting which will be held on April 1st at 1:00 at Clyman Lions Hall. Let’s have a good turnout as there will be a lot of important business to discuss along with nominating members for induction in to the 2023 Hall of Fame. Congratulations to the Clyman Canners – 2022 Rock River League Grand Champions!

The Rock River League Old-timers Annual Meeting will be held on Saturday, April 1, 2023 at 1:00 at Lions Hall in Clyman. Your attendance is very important as there are numerous items to be discussed. We will decide if where we want to have a group outing at one of the RRL games this summer. There will be cash door prizes, drink coupons and a good time at the ball park. We need to decide if we want to attend a minor league game in the area this summer. We need to make plans for this year’s golf outing. We are looking for someone to step up and spearhead this project. We need to make plans for this year’s Hall of Fame banquet. Chef Chanse of Juneau has agreed to cater our event again so we know there will be a delicious meal. We need to elect officers for the 2023 season. Most importantly, we need to select four more people to be added to the ballot for induction into the Hall of Fame. With all of these items that need to be discussed, we need as many voices in attendance to help make these decisions.
We welcome our newest members, Ken Bockhorst and Warren Braunschweig. Ken is a former catcher for Clyman and Warren is a former infielder for Neosho, Hustisford, Lebanon and Clyman. Warren is the current manager of the Clyman team. It was reported to me that Hall of Fame member Don Christopherson, former ace pitcher for Ashippun, passed away on November 14, 2021. For many years, Don donated money to pay for the Player of Merit Awards given at the RRL Banquet. Our belated condolences go out to Don’s family.
Congratulations go out to the 2022 Hall of Fame inductees Craig Semler-Rubicon, Tom Theusch-Slinger, Dave Donath-Kewaskum and Matt O’Rourke-Neosho and also to Rock Diamond Award winner Tim Fitzsimmons-Clyman. Though the turnout was much smaller than we were accustomed to, a good time was had by all.
The 10th Annual RRL Old-timers Golf Outing will be held on Saturday, October 7th, 2023 at Horicon Hills Golf Club. We tied our high for teams last year with 19 and made a little over $1500. Our goal is always to improve over the previous year. This is our main fundraiser each year, so please ask your officers how you can help to make this event the best ever.
You can now pay any dues or other fee and banquet tickets by using our Cheddarup account at https://rock-river-league-old-timers-registration.cheddarup.com.
I am working on getting some of the Brewer discount coupons for this season. They would be good for any Monday thru Friday game, excluding opening day. I should have more information by the time of the Annual Meeting.
The 2023 Hall of Fame banquet will be held on Saturday, October 28, 2023 at Lions Hall in Clyman. Make plans to attend this fun filled event as it is your chance to honor this year’s award winners. The food is always good, the drinks plentiful and the stories are long and often repeated, but still humorous. See you there!
