Spring 2021
Well, the calendar says it is spring, although the weather doesn’t feel like it. This means it is close to baseball season. Hopefully everyone made it through the winter without any major issues. The Brewers are off to a good start; hopefully they can keep the ball rolling into the playoffs again. The Rock River League starts their season on May 2nd. I hope everyone gets out to some of their local games and supports their favorite team. There have been some changes in the Rock River League and also within the RRL Old-timers that we want to bring to everyone’s attention. As always, if you have any questions, contact your officers.
The Rock River League Old-timers have set up a CHEDDARUP account. This allows you to pay your fees online. For now, it is only set up to receive membership dues. In the future, it may be set up to pay for banquet tickets, Brewer trip tickets, golf outing fees and the like. You can access the account at: https://rock-river-league-old-timers-registration-cheddarup.com.
Brewers Trip – First of all, there will be no Brewer discount coupons this year. We have selected, Thursday, August 26, 2021 for our potential trip. However, the Brewers are not taking any group ticket orders at this time due to seating limitation placed on them by the Milwaukee County Health Department. They might be taking group orders after June 1st if Milwaukee County allows them to have seating at 50% capacity. What I we are asking you to do is to contact Bob Schulz if you are interested in attending the Brewer game on August 26th. If we are able to purchase tickets for our group, I will contact you. Please don’t wait to order your tickets.
All Star Outing – The Rock River League has permanently cancelled their All-Star game. We have decided to go back to having a Playoff Outing. The date is Sunday, August 15 at Rubicon. With the new playoff system, the league is using this year, there will be three games at Rubicon on that date, all involving Southern Division teams. We will again give each member in attendance three drink coupons but have decided against having any door prizes. Instead, there will be a cash raffle for the members We will give out three prizes totaling $100. We have also decided to donate $800 to the RRL towards sponsorship of the playoff tournament. Come and join us for a fun day of baseball at one of the longest running parks in the Rock River League.
8th Annual Rock River League Old-timers Golf Outing – will be held on Saturday, October m2nd, 2021 at Horicon Hills Golf Club. Kyle Krueger has volunteered to help with the tournament as past chairman Kirk Kaul has decided to retire from the position. More information will follow in the July newsletter.
Rock River League Old-timers Hall of Fame Banquet – will be finally be held on Saturday, October 30th, 2021 at Lions Hall in Clyman. Edith’s Catering will again supply the meal. More information will follow in the July newsletter.
