Hello RRL Old-timers,
It seems the only way we’ve been in contact this past 1-1/2 years is by this newsletter. But finally, it looks like things are improving, slow but sure. We did hold our Annual Meeting the end of March with a handful of members present. We do have several events scheduled for the summer and fall (hopefully). 1. We have an outing planned for August 15th when the playoffs start. 2. A Brewer trip is planned for August 26th against Cincy; the bus is already reserved. 3. 8th Annual RRL Old-timers Golf Outing is October 2ne at Horicon Hills. 4. And of course, our Hall of Fame Banquet is scheduled for October 30th in Clyman. Be governed by Bob’s deadline for the Brewer trip; if there is little interest, it will be cancelled. More important information to follow from Bob.

I am hoping to get back to a more normal newsletter schedule next year. Hopefully we won’t need to deal with Covid-19 anymore.

We have Brewer Discount Coupons available for you! There is no specific date this year. One coupon will get you two ½ price tickets to any Monday thru Friday Brewer home game (except for games against the Cubs and White Sox) for the rest of the season. We are organizing a Brewer Trip if there is enough interest. The date selected is Thursday, August 26, 2021. The Cincinnati Reds provide the opposition in a 1:10 afternoon tilt. I have a bus reserved already but not the tickets. I need to know by August 1st if you are interested in attending the game. The cost of the bus trip will remain at $40.00. The bus will leave at 10:15 from the Hustisford Ballpark parking lot. If needed, we will arrange a pickup location at Riverside Park in Watertown at 10:30. If we go, I will try to get seats in the loge area again but because we are waiting this long, that is no guarantee. Since the Rock River League All Star Game has been discontinued, we will go back to having an outing at a RRL Playoff Game. We have selected Sunday, August 15th at Rubicon for our outing. The Rock River League is experimenting with a tournament type format for this year’s playoffs. There will be 3 games in Rubicon on August 15th. Starting times will be 11:00, 1:30 and 4:00 but there is no way of telling who will be playing when as there are 2 games on Friday night in each division and 3 games on Saturday in each division. The games in Rubicon will be all Southern Division teams and each game will be 7 innings with a ten-run rule after 5 innings. The Northern Division teams will be playing in Hartford. RRL Old-timers will have free admission and three drink coupons. There will also be a cash raffle with a $100 first prize. Mark your calendars now to make sure to attend this full afternoon of Rock River League baseball.
The 8th Annual Rock River League Old-timers Golf Outing will be held on Saturday, October 2nd, 2021 at Horicon Hills Golf Club in Horicon. This is our annual fundraiser to support the trips, outings and other things that we do throughout the year. An entry form accompanies this newsletter. Feel free to get a team or two together for the outing as we will try to top our high of 19 teams at the 2020 outing. There will be a delicious dinner served after golfing, auction items, a 50/50 raffle, hole prizes to be distributed as well as prize money to be handed out to the winning teams. The Annual Hall of Fame Banquet will be held on Saturday, October 30, 2021 at Lions Hall in Clyman. Please join us as we induct Terry Koth of Kewaskum, Brad Tagliapietra of Brownsville, Andy Kasten of Watertown and Kyle Krueger of Clyman into the Rock River League Hall of Fame. The Posthumous Inductee for 2021 will be Jon Moldenhauer of Clyman. The Rock Diamond Award will be presented posthumously to Dave Zimmerman, former Manager at Slinger and Pardeeville. Dave’s son Daryle, will accept the award. The cost of attending the banquet will remain at $25.00. Edith’s Cakes and Catering will again be preparing the dinner. Reservations must be made by October 16th. Cocktail hour starts at 6:00 with the dinner to follow at 7:00.
